Rivers and Streams

In the mythology of Ireland, rivers and streams were considered a boundary between worlds, originally springing from magical wells. The River Shannon was one such river of knowledge, tied to the well of wisdom in the Celtic Otherworld. Now a prime shipping route, the River Shannon is the longest river in Ireland and was once used by the Vikings to fight each other for territory and to raid monasteries further inland.
